AMD has announced the introduction of the Acer Altos G5350, a Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor-based pedestal server. This server is expected to bring improved performance to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) looking for a solution capable of running separate or consolidated server workloads.

Designed for multi-core computing, Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors deliver additional performance within the same power envelope as single-core processors, according to AMD. The Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor-based server enhances computing capacity without increasing power or physical space requirements, thereby lowering operational costs.

The new Acer Altos G5350 will be available in single- and dual-core configurations starting in July 2005 in Europe.
