a. What do common BD and related acronyms and abbreviations stand for?
As is the case with all technologies, BD possesses its own technical and marketing jargon and is awash in a sea of acronyms and abbreviations. BD shares a great deal of terminology with DVD, CD and other forms of optical storage but also employs a new vocabulary, including short forms, to describe its unique abilities, features and characteristics (see chart).
