About OM&T:
The history of OM&T B.V. goes back to that of the history of the optical disc technology development in Philips. The department was in that time referred to as Philips’ Optical Disc Technology Centre (ODTC) and acted as an R&D centre with pilot production capacities. Its main task was to support the Philips standardization of optical disc formats and as such it has played a leading role in the development of the CD-R(W), DVD+R(W) and BD-R/RE formats.

In 2006, the group was reorganized into a subsidiary company of Philips, OM&T B.V.

In broadening its scope of R&D, OM&T’s ambition is to continue as a leading development centre for high-technology products and production processes. Our technology roadmap starts from our expertise as development centre for new optical disc formats. We are fully exploiting our expertise and the business opportunities in the optical disc market with an emphasis on the realisation of the BD portfolio. In the optical disc market, OM&T is respected supplier of recordable/rewritable optical discs, specialised test and calibration discs and Optical disc stampers to a large number of customers.

During last years, building on the existing competencies and infrastructure, OM&T has successfully extended its development roadmap into the area of Photovoltaics (PV). In this PV program we are cooperating with leading partners in Europe.

In February 2007 the majority of OM&T’s shares have been acquired by Moser Baer India, a company that has proven skills in mass manufacturing of optical discs as well as of PV cells and modules. We have found an excellent fit between MBI and OM&T and in this new situation OM&T is even more prepared to play a leading role in the continuous innovation cycle of high tech products and services.
