Posted Aug 18, 2009 Print Version     Page 1of 1

Microservice, leader in audio and video optical discs manufacturing in Brazil, has just announced that will start to produce Blu-ray discs at its industrial facility at Manaus before the end of this year. Microservice has invested US$ 5.4 million in this plant, which will be the first to manufacture Blu-ray discs in Latin America, and one of the few ones in the world. The announcement comes exactly 22 years after the opening of the company’s optical media factory, which was the first in South America and the pioneer in Brazil on controlling the entire Compact Discs processing - from pre-mastering to the final product.

"We are very proud to be protagonist of this important improvement on digital media technology, in the way to contribute for the development of high definition at the home entertainment market, both in the retail and contents renting of shows, music and games", says Isaac Hemsi, Microservice director.

The company will produce discs in BD50 (50 GB) and BD25 (25 GB) versions, offering a further option of high quality media in the market. Microservice is certified with ISO 9000 and CDSA, which recognize companies with active anti-piracy programs. "Our plant is set with the more recent machines and processes, confirming our commitment with quality and exceeding the clients expectation", said Hemsi. The plant will have a production capacity for 400,000 discs monthly.

The investment on Blu-ray production will create new direct and indirect jobs at Manaus.
