The Digital Media Business Unit of Trident Microsystems, Inc., a leader in developing digital video processing technology for the consumer digital video marketplace, has announced its third-generation single-chip video processor solution, the DPTV 3DPRO. According to Trident, the DPTV 3DPRO video processor delivers "cinema-realistic," digital video, matching the image quality of motion pictures. DPTV 3DPRO integrates an enhanced multi-standard 3D digital comb video decoder, edge-smoothing circuitry, and object-based digital noise reduction among other enhanced digital procession techniques. DPTV 3DPRO is designed for use with digital progressive, plasma, LCD, and rear-projection television applications, where high-precision video processing and image enhancements are required. DPTV 3DPRO is currently available to TV OEMs for sampling. Trident's third-generation DPTV family comes in two packages: DPTV 3DPRO in 208-pin PQFP is priced at $27 and PanelTV 3DPRO in 320-ball BGA package is priced at $29.
