DMOD, Inc., a leading provider of secure workflow and distribution solutions, announced that it has shipped Version 2.5 of its DMOD WorkSpace, a software solution that streamlines the media production process and provides content owners and creators with tighter control over their digital assets. By securely leveraging the public Internet, DMOD WorkSpace improves efficiency, saves time and lowers the cost of digital production. Version 2.5 provides expanded media format compatibility, including support for QuickTime 6.0, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4, as well as several enhancements that make it easier for production teams to share, track, and review digital media.

According to DMOD, it is estimated that piracy occurs in 80 percent of the media industry. DMOD WorkSpace is among the first software-only solutions to simultaneously address inefficiencies in the digital production workflow and the need to protect content during the production process.  Version 2.5 extends the power of the DMOD WorkSpace with increased flexibility and accessibility as well as enhanced media playback capabilities. Aside from format compatibility, other major enhancements in v2.5 include the following:

-- Encrypted Save-To-Disk allows owners to select target recipients, assign media access permissions, and save an encrypted media bundle for subsequent burning to CD/DVD.

-- Offline digital media review gives content recipients the flexibility of downloading secured media to a laptop, disconnecting from the network, then reviewing media untethered from the network.

--  Browser-based access allows Mac OS 9 users to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to upload unencrypted media to a Gateway for secure distribution, assign media access permissions, view media, and export media to your desktop.

-- Digital media tracking through historical log provides logging and reporting of media distribution activities, including recipient, time of receipt, and play and/or export.

-- Group addressing and group permissions streamline and expedite the content distribution process by organizing users into distribution groups and assigning sets of permissions to the groups.

The DMOD WorkSpace Version 2.5 client/server solution is priced starting at $17,500 per year for one server and five client seats. Maintenance and support are additional. DMOD products support Microsoft Windows 2000/XP, Apple's Mac OSX, Linux and Sun platforms.
