A-Media Scanner scans any directory including its subfolders for multimedia files. It then gathers metadata such as media format, codecs, duration, bitrate, etc. from audio and video clips. Finally it creates browsable and searchable Web pages, playlists or any other document for use on Web sites, presentation CDs, etc. In addition, A-Media Scanner extracts set of snapshots form video files.

All gathered data is saved in XML catalog index file. Now it is possible to search catalog; create multimedia Web pages and playlists; mix data from other XML files or databases and export this information to other applications. A-Media Scanner supports XSL transformations with JavaScript and VBScript for exporting catalog information.

- Browsing and searching multimedia catalogs with any Web browser from local computer, Intranet or Web.
- Browsing multimedia file properties (codecs, duration, framerate, etc.) and content info (Id3 and Id3v2 tag Artist, Genre, Album Art, etc) with snapshots from video files.
- Automatic generation of local and Internet playlists and multimedia presentations in ASX or SMIL formats. Generation of Windows Media Server server-side WSX playlists. Generation of playlists in WPL, m3u or similar formats.
