Optibase Introduces MXF Technology for Its Encoding Platform
Posted Mar 30, 2004 Print Version     Page 1of 1

Optibase, Ltd., a leader in digital video encoding and streaming solutions, has announced the implementation of MXF (Material eXchange Format) on the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher, Optibase's MPEG-2 encoding platform. Also, Optibase, Ltd. and LSI Logic Corporation announced the implementation of Sony MPEG IMX Technology on the same encoding platform.

With these additions, the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher with the MPEG Composer 200 becomes a key component of ingest systems for TV production, enabling the capture of high-quality video files for later retrieval and editing.

MXF is a file wrapper for video, audio and metadata and as such is an interchange format--a single currency for transactions over networks between servers, tape streamers, and to digital archives. MXF is ideal for professional video and broadcast companies that have been using proprietary file formats for years. MXF allows an open standard for preserving all of the data through the production and post-production workflow. It is a file format suitable for any compression scheme, operating system or video format.

MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher with MPEG Composer 200 is currently available for shipment.
