ArcSoft Provides Innovative Solution For Networked DVD Players
Posted Jun 22, 2004 Print Version     Page 1of 1

ArcSoft, Inc., a leading developer and provider of multimedia software and firmware solutions for personal computer, mobile device, and consumer electronics manufacturers, has announced that its embedded technology solution for networked DVD players is now available.

ArcSoft's solution uses a consumer-friendly interface, similar to those found in set-top DVD players and PC applications, to give users the ability to view content over their home network without purchasing specialized hardware. Using a DVD player which has the ArcSoft solution, consumers can access the PC-based multimedia content and enjoy it throughout his or her house without having to purchase expensive proprietary, non-standard electronics or to struggle to connect multiple media devices or systems. ArcSoft's solution is designed to leverage the power of the PC to provide content to the DVD player in a format the DVD player can understand via a wired, wireless, or power line-based home network. This method effectively uses both the PC as a media content storage and management tool and the DVD player as a flexible, feature-rich, easy-to-use playback device.

The complementary MediaMirror software includes real-time transcoding and rendering of PC-based content into formats the DVD player is designed to accept. This will allow the user to watch home movies, view photo slide shows, listen to custom audio collections, or browse the Internet in the same way the user browses a standard DVD disc.
