Technicolor Expands Worldwide DVD Capacity

July 31, 2020 | Technicolor has announced that it will expand its worldwide DVD manufacturing capacity from 75 million units to 150 million units. The company plans to acquire 25 new DVD manufacturing lines and associated packaging equipment. Of the new manufacturing lines, 17 will be installed in the United States, and eight will be installed in Europe. "We're investing to double our capacity because the market is growing so fast," says Lyndon Faulkner, president of Technicolor Optical Media Services.

Technicolor has also announced that, as a result of its recent acquisition of Complete Post, it now has the capability to offer turnkey DVD manufacturing services. Technicolor's services now include compression, authoring, asset management, and asset maintenance, which are in addition to the company's existing mastering, replication, packaging, fulfillment, and distribution capabilities. Other services include the development and coordination of subtitles, multiple language tracks, multiple camera angles, web links, Dolby Digital/AC3 encoding, and graphic design. These services will be offered through the company's newly acquired Los Angeles-based facility.
