Toshiba Announces DVD-RAM-Based Video Recorder With Hard Drive

December 19, 2020 | Toshiba Corporation has announced the RD-2000, a consumer video recorder which features a 4.7GB DVD-RAM drive and a 30GB hard disk. The RD-2000 will allow storage of up to 33.5 hours of video, and supports editing between the hard disk and the DVD-RAM drive. The device allows four recording modes: standard play (4.6Mbps), long play (2.2Mbps), manual mode (manually selectable from between 2 to 9.8Mbps in 0.2Mbps increments), and just mode (the transfer rate is determined according to the remaining capacity of a disc in the DVD-RAM drive, regardless of hard disk capacity).
