Technicolor Partners With Microsoft, Expands DVD Production Capacity

May 30, 2020 | Technicolor has entered into a multi-year partnership with Microsoft to provide manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and distribution support for Microsoft's Xbox video game system. Under the agreement, Technicolor is a technology, replication, and distribution service provider for all Xbox game titles created by Microsoft, and will manage the distribution center for Xbox systems and peripherals in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Technicolor has also announced the expansion of its DVD production capacity. The company has added 21 new DVD manufacturing lines, which represents nearly a 60 percent increase in production capacity. The investment will increase Technicolor's DVD production capacity by 100 million units per year. "With the recent announcement of our agreement with Microsoft, the expansion will afford us the ability to not only produce Xbox titles, but continue to expand our DVD production capacity to meet increasing demand for both new and existing DVD customers," says Lyndon Faulkner, president of Technicolor Digital Media Services.
