Pinnacle Unveils Real-Time Editing and DVD Authoring System

Pinnacle Systems, Inc. has announced Pinnacle Pro-ONE, a DV-based editing and authoring solution. Pinnacle Pro-ONE allows users to combine two digital video streams with titles, graphics, and 3D objects, and apply up to ten digital video effects simultaneously in real-time. The solution includes Adobe Premiere 6.0, Hollywood FX RT, TitleDeko RT, and Pinnacle Impression DVD-SE. Pinnacle Systems' Pinnacle Pro-ONE will be available at an estimated retail price of $1,299.

Vitec Multimedia Partners With Idioma Solutions

Vitec Multimedia and Idioma Solutions have announced the integration of Vitec's MPEG editing software development kit (SDK) with Idioma's SmartLog digital tracking, retrieval, and management platform. With the full integration of the SDK into Idioma's SmartLog, users can monitor, encode, decode, and edit digital audiovisual broadcasts in various MPEG formats. Vitec's SDK includes Video Clip MPEG-2 PRO, a non-linear, frame-accurate MPEG-2 software editor.

Canopus Ships MPEG Encoding Module For DVStorm

Canopus Corporation has announced StormEncoder, a real-time MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 hardware encoding module for use with the company's DVStorm real-time NLE. StormEncoder allows DVStorm users to encode edited video directly from Adobe Premiere or Canopus StormEdit timelines. StormEncoder is based on the MN85560 MPEG encoder chip from Panasonic in combination with Canopus' MPEG audio encoding technology. The module encodes video in real-time (near real-time when encoding directly from the timeline) using Main Profile at Mail Level (MP@ML) MPEG-2, which provides true IBP frame format. Canopus' StormEncoder is available at an MSRP of $399.

CyberLink Announces PowerDirector

CyberLink has announced PowerDirector, a video editing software package. PowerDirector's Smart Video Rendering Technology (SVRT) allows only the edited portions of video to be rendered, as opposed to rendering the entire length of the video. Users can import DV files directly into MPEG, and the software also offers over 30 3D title effects, 50 transitions, and the ability to add up to seven audio tracks. Users can also make adjustments to the color of the video, and add a picture-in-picture or master watermark effect.

MacroSystem US Announces Upgraded Casablanca Avio Editing System

MacroSystem US, Inc. has released the Casablanca Avio DV, a FireWire version of its Avio video editing system. The Casablanca Avio includes an internal 20GB hard drive, and a trackball or optional keyboard operates all controls. The company has also released an array of new software for the Casablanca Avio, including over 100 fonts, a surround-sound creation system, 2D, 3D, and liquid-like transitions, and display options that provide kiosk-style playback capabilities. All software is installed via the system's built-in SmartMedia card reader. MacroSystem's Casablanca Avio is available at an MSRP of $1,295 in its ST (standard) model.
