Canopus Ships MPEG Encoding Module For DVStorm

Canopus Corporation has announced StormEncoder, a real-time MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 hardware encoding module for use with the company's DVStorm real-time NLE. StormEncoder is based on the MN85560 MPEG encoder chip from Panasonic in combination with Canopus' MPEG audio encoding technology. The module encodes video in real-time (near real-time when encoding directly from the timeline) using Main Profile at Mail Level (MP@ML) MPEG-2, which provides true IBP frame format. Canopus' StormEncoder is available at an MSRP of $399.

Users can also make adjustments to the color of the video, and add a picture-in-picture or master watermark effect.
